Who are the Notre Dame Fighting iBots?
We are a team who work together with Gracious Professionalism to design and build robots. The 2011 First Lego League Challenge will be "Food Factor." Our team will explore the topic of Food Safety.
Two components to the competition...
• The Research Project
Teams conduct research to solve a real-world problem, develop an innovative solution and present and share their work at the competition and within their communities.
• The Robot Game
Teams design, build and program autonomous LEGO robots to achieve specific missions and compete in three 2.5 minute performance rounds at competitions.
December 3, 2011 Qualifying Tournament Results
The Fighting iBots went to Livermore on December 3rd to compete in the First Lego League Robotics Qualifying Tournament. The team competed with 11 other teams from around the region. Teams were evaluated by three sets of judges in the areas of Food Safety Project and Solution, Robot Design, and Core Values and Teamwork Strategies. Then, the team participated in three 2 ½ minute autonomous robot table rounds solving as many of the challenge missions in the time allowed. We are proud to announce that the Fighting iBots won 2nd place in the Robot Game Table Rounds and won the Project Award for outstanding research and innovative solution with their Bact-Be-Gone Self Cleaning Refrigerator! The Fighting iBots will advance to the Northern California Capital District Championship Tournament in February!
